Hey people i just thought that i would vent some frustration at the people who put music as there name on ZBP. Its not to bad if you are at your computer but if you are away from it at the time i find it quite fucking anoying as you dont know who they are.

Paul.

I agree. The nametag is primarily for the voicemails and so that when you're going through who's where you can figure out, well, who's where. If you have music as your tag, that doesn't help anything at all.

it is a freaking fun place to hang out. who cares what people put.

Post 4 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Sunday, 13-Jan-2008 11:02:56

I agree with post two. Anyone can put music as their name tag on Zone by Phone. How are you supposed to know who's whom, and whether or not you're speaking to a friend or someone you don't know?

Post 5 by Austin (the magic fan!) on Sunday, 13-Jan-2008 11:55:58

i'm with post 2 on this. don't mean to sound like a jerk but it's true. i mean, yeah you can put music, that's all good and fine but why not say your name on top of it.
now i see both sides of the coin here. but if they do have music for the name find out there user id and you can find out that way. granted you have to be near a pc of course but i've had to do that.
as i say, i see both sides but i lean more toward the name instead of music.

Post 6 by Damia (I'm oppinionated deal with it.) on Sunday, 13-Jan-2008 12:23:37

I like going on zbp mainly when I'm not home or not near a pc just to hang out like I normally would in on the zone. So music as a name tag with no name over it kind of is anoying. i liked Aleah's old one and the one qll had last time I looked they have music but they also say who they are. Speaking of that I should change my name on there

Post 7 by nikos (English words from a Greek thinking brain) on Sunday, 13-Jan-2008 15:02:38

I agree. Users who come on zone by phone should be able to know who they are talking to so just music is pointless i think. Perhaps if there was a system which could read usernames or even spell letter by letter a suername maybe this would be more helpful because nobody remembers user ids.

Post 8 by frequency (the music man) on Sunday, 13-Jan-2008 15:35:20

I don't have a problem with that because very few people will put similar sounding music to mine on their name recordings. lol

Post 9 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Sunday, 13-Jan-2008 15:36:14

I agree with the majority. I am not usually in front of my computer when I'm in the mood to check to see who is on ZBP. I don't recognize most people by their real names, so putting their user name would be helpful also, in addition to not just having music. I am one of those people who don't want to join a conference if I don't feel comfortable talking to the people there, and if I can't figure out who is there, I'm not going to join in.

Post 10 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Sunday, 13-Jan-2008 15:38:50

I forgot to add this in my last post. I know there is a way on the system to look at user ID numbers of the people in each conference. But as I have only my own user ID and a couple other people's memorized, that isn't much help. If they could find a way to let you see who is in each conference by user name rather than by ID number, then people who insist on having music as their name tag could continue to do so.

Post 11 by Blondie McConfusion (Blah Blah Blah) on Sunday, 13-Jan-2008 15:40:48

i also get a bit annoyed trying to figure out who is who when they just have music. but then my name isn't in my tag so i can't complain too much.

Post 12 by shea (number one pulse checking chicky) on Sunday, 13-Jan-2008 16:34:48

yeah, music is annoying. really annoying when they have the login thingy working. don't get me wrong i like hearing who logs in, but when your in the middle of a conversation, and someone logs in and it' just loud music instead of a short saying who they are. grrr. you know that's annoying, but while were on the bitch craze, hehehe I can't stand when you log in, and yeah, the sign in name thingy isn't working, and people don't even get a chance to say hi or who they are. the same dam people every time is like who are you, over and over and over. fuck give them a chance to say who they are and be a bit more patient and not so dam rude. I am not only saying this here. i have said it to them! heehhehehe my ranting done!

Post 13 by Harmony (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Tuesday, 15-Jan-2008 14:58:12

I find it really annoying that people put music on their zone by phone name area because I thought that was supposed to be how you identified yourself to other people and 3 seconds' worth of music means nothing. It could be anyone.

Post 14 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Tuesday, 15-Jan-2008 22:39:00

Maybe these epople who only put music in as their name on ZBP just don't like their name, or have absolutely no desire to say them? Or maybe they just lack the ability to come up with something inteligent to say within a 3 second time span. Regardless of the reason, I agree, it's annoying. As for what can actually be done about it, I don't think there is much. Regardless of your opinion on how people record their tags on zbp, it is their space to record what they will, and so if music is what they want, than that's what we'll get.

Post 15 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Tuesday, 15-Jan-2008 22:45:32

But it simply doesn't make sense. Don't they want people to recognize who they are? I'm sure their close friends will know, but other more casual users of the zone who don't know everyone but who would like to try joining a conference might not join because they don't know or recognize any of the name tags when they check WW.

not only that but the quallity just sucks as well.

Post 17 by SingerOfSongs (Heresy and apostasy is how progress is made.) on Wednesday, 16-Jan-2008 6:24:58

This links up somewhat with the suggestion of when looking at someone's profile on the website it'd be nice to have the ability to hear the person's ZBP tag. Yes, not really a solution, but it'd help.

Post 18 by south park fan (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Thursday, 17-Jan-2008 14:29:38

Hey all,
I agree. If a person just has music for their name tag, that is no help at all. I think it would be ok just to have music in the background and the person just says their name over top of it.

Post 19 by cttal109 (#1) on Friday, 18-Jan-2008 11:21:20

I usually don't look at these things, but was looking up someone here, and thought I would give an opinion on this matter, I say put what you will, it is your space to do with what you will I find it a bit confusing at times when there is a totally blank tag and you wonder whether ZBP has fucked up again or not. If you want to know someone enter the conference and inquire as to who all is in conference That is a simple enough solution to me anyway, but whatever I mean the point of ZBP is as with the site to get to know others, and socialize and if you will bring more life to knowing someone than just scrolling text on a web site. I say if you don't like someone then you don't have to aknowledge them plain and simple.

Anyway, later peace out

Post 20 by The Great Rabbit (Queen of random) on Friday, 18-Jan-2008 14:44:59

There are several good points here. I mean, it'd be easy enough to just pop into a conference and ask who was in there, but not everyone's comfortable with just randomly going in a conference with people they've never spoken too and going "Hey, who're you?" lol. I've met some neat people on zone by phone but I'm one of the shy ones so I probably wouldn't do that. I think Nehemiah's post about being able to hear people's zome by phone name tags over the site is a good idea; it would help somewhat unless you're not at your computer at the time. I know not everyone's at the computer while on zone by phone, but it would help.
I do think its nicer when someone has a name on the system but like its already been said, people will put what they want; for a long time mine didn't have my name on it either.

I hate it when people have just music on their zbp tags, instead of music with name on top of it. I know that people r entitled to be creative for three seconds, but it doesn't really help people know who u r. Yes, u can look up the user id, but unless u know that person that has that user id, it will not help. A few times, people with just music on their name tags may have cool songs, but by the time I get to my computer to look them up, I totally forget who they r. Blank tags piss me off, too.

Post 22 by Milo Theory (Zone BBS Addict) on Thursday, 24-Jan-2008 9:33:37

Well now. I can't help it if not all people lack the intelligence to recognize regular participants. I don't have a name on my name tag and frankly, it's nobody's business why I don't have a name on there for ultimately those people that matter to me knows who I am. I don't bitch just because I don't know who's viewing my name tag or my profile. Although I hate it when someone enters a conference and keeps quiet. Damn it! If you don't want to talk and you are all shy, log out and don't log back in until you have the ability to speak. You are only taking up someone else's slot in the conference.

Oh, and I've received some really nice vm's where people couldn't stop laughing at a snippet of a song. I've been told that my boring music on my name tag actually made some people smile. Even total strangers shared that with me and to be honest, it was rather amusing so, if you're not regular on ZBP, take a chill pill and relax.

Hanif, just lean back, close your eyes, think of grean trees, blue skys and relax. lmao!

Post 25 by Shawn the Final Fantasy Fan (Generic Zoner) on Sunday, 27-Jan-2008 5:58:32

Kay, well now it's time for me to enter my input in here. I'm kinda on the fense here about this issue. I mean sure, I hate it when people don't tell who their names are in ZBP and just play music, or don't leave anythin' at all, but that's their wishes and we can't encroach 'em. Besides, my name tag on ZBP also has music, but I'll tell you a way that you can know that I'm on the system. I'm the only one with the Final Fantasy 12 victory song. People like it, especially the video game fanatics like me so I ain't changin' that anytime soon. Besides, I don't think anyone would put the victory song from this or any other Final Fantasy games 'cause I don't think that anyone knows Final Fantasy that well, and if anyone does, I think that it's a small percentage.

Post 26 by changedheart421 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Sunday, 27-Jan-2008 7:59:42

ok my opinion has officially changed. I hate music too lol. it is very hard.

Post 28 by Shawn the Final Fantasy Fan (Generic Zoner) on Monday, 28-Jan-2008 16:07:12

Oh, I forgot one thing in one of my board posts. I never go into conferences anyway 'cause I hardly don't know everyone of y'all. The only conference I've ever been into was one with my friend Jessi, AKA Complicated Melody, a girl named Amanda, Brian33, and another girl named Morgan. And actually the name tag thing in that conference was broken so it didn't help anyway. But you'll hardly ever see me in a conference unless the conference is filled with people I know. So in a way, the music name tag doesn't effect me.

Post 29 by Milo Theory (Zone BBS Addict) on Tuesday, 29-Jan-2008 11:21:21

I guess if you never enter any conferences, you won't get to know any participants.

Post 30 by audioadict (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Tuesday, 05-Feb-2008 15:50:43

Well, I don't think it's a good idea to put music as your name on zbp. But we can't do much about that. If you want music, just go ahead.
